Introducing Guillaume

18/11/2024

We are delighted to welcome Guillaume Denoix de Saint Marc to V-Europe as a Mission Manager. His extensive expertise and unwavering dedication to advocating for victims will be invaluable to our organization and its mission.

Guillaume's commitment to this cause stems from a deeply personal tragedy: the loss of his father, Jean-Henri Denoix de Saint Marc, in the terrorist attack on UTA Flight DC10, UT772, on September 19, 1989. This attack, attributed to Libya, claimed the lives of 170 individuals across 18 nationalities.

Since then, Guillaume has devoted his life—first as a volunteer and later professionally—to supporting victims of terrorism. He played a pivotal role in securing Libya's acknowledgment of responsibility after two years of negotiations with Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of Muammar Gaddafi. This effort culminated in a $170 million settlement for the victims' families, ensuring fair compensation regardless of nationality. Guillaume also spearheaded the creation of a powerful memorial in the Ténéré Desert, a lasting tribute to those who perished.

He founded and led the French Association for Victims of Terrorism (AfVT) for 13 years, significantly improving support for terrorism victims in France, Europe, and worldwide. His contributions include advancing the prevention of violent radicalization through the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) and organizing the VIIth and VIIIth International Congresses for Victims of Terrorism in Paris (2011) and Nice (2019).

In addition to his role at V-Europe, Guillaume serves as president of the International Federation of Associations and Victims of Terrorism (IFAVT) and president of "Les Familles de l’attentat du DC10 d’UTA."

With Guillaume's partnership, V-Europe is poised to further its mission of advocating for victims' rights and enhancing support systems across Europe. We look forward to the impactful work we will achieve together and the positive changes we will bring to the lives of those affected by terrorism.
